The Nurse Leader of the Year Award criteria:

  • Previous DAISY Honoree and practice in North Dakota

  • Role model with extraordinary behaviors that display compassion and exemplary leadership practice within their organization.

  • Creates an environment that fosters care and compassion in medical and health services. This environment envelopes attributes of trust, compassion, mutual respect, continued professional development, and ethical behavior that is modeled and supported.

  • A mentor to staff that motivates a shared vision and enthusiasm to achieve better outcomes for themselves and for their patients. Those around them are influenced by their actions and words to lead the same mission.

  • Promotes and enhances the image of nursing within the organization, the community, and the profession. This is seen by their fellow nurses, leadership, organization, and patients.
